<--- Look to the Left

If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite. Do you agree?

I've came across this quotation quite a long time ago. No idea who thought of that, so if you know, please let me know so I can give credit to that person. Anyway, I thought it's a pretty good quote, and it really makes sense right? If everybody's perception is cleansed, erased, I think the world would be very different today. Well, that's what I think. (Anyone who is reading this and finds me ridiculous, please stop reading from here.)

Perception is defined as:
1. The process, act, or faculty of perceiving.
2. The effect or product of perceiving.
3. Psychology:
- Recognition and interpretation of sensory stimuli based chiefly on memory.
- The neurological processes by which such recognition and interpretation are affected.
- Insight, intuition, or knowledge gained by perceiving.
- The capacity for such insight.

People can be categorized into many types. There are stingy people, generous people, tall people, short, emotional, strong, weak, pretty, intelligent, fat, skinny, ridiculous, just plain stupid, and to make it more confusing, there are clever yet cunning, strong yet weak somehow and the list goes on... Actually, if you seriously think about it, how do you know that the person you think is, say, clever is actually clever? How do you define clever? Is it based on academic studies or IQ or EQ or technical skills?

Everyone apprehend things differently, usually arise from people having different characters. They see things from different point of view. Maybe that's why people like to categorize people into different zodiacs, star signs, birth year and date, colour trees, flowers and whatever not. I think perception is just a psychology thing.

“Recognition and interpretation of sensory stimuli based chiefly on memory.”
Usually, recognition and interpretation through senses involves sight and hearing. Why you must wear an ironed shirt, comb your hair, spray some perfume and sweet talk on your first date? Why you must dress nicely yet neatly, speak smartly yet not boasting for your interview? First impression counts. Who sets the impression? Who is setting the impression? You (lar).

I believe in the above quotation. If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite. We are often bind and blinded by the perceptions we set in our mind. Imagine a day when everyone has no perceptions. What you see, what you get. (Like what my economics lecturer always say.) Nothing else. No incidents, images or whatever stuck in your subconscious mind. No prejudice, no bias. No contrast, no separation. Everything to everyone’s eyes is equal. OMG. I hope by nature, humans are good.

But thinking more about it, I wonder if humans will become aimless. There won’t be boundaries if everything is infinite. Maybe it would be too much for us to take it, maybe it wouldn’t be. I have heard or read from somewhere, that doctors and scientists believe that if human can use 100% of the brain, humans can eventually influence surrounding objects within a certain range. It’s really mind power.

But it’s NOT like
Me (concentrating on a glass of coffee): Kopi kopi...
Me (muttering): Hummmmm... Change to pepsi...

Maybe it would be like the Matrix movie. We all can fly. Woo hoo~!

Getting crappy already, time to sleep. Night!
